Slovakia: New Corporate Criminal Liability Act

As of July 1, 2016 the new corporate criminal liability law came into force in Slovakia. The corporate criminal liability law will significantly affect the liability of corporations in Slovakia. A statutory body or statutory body member, person in charge of control or supervision within the corporation, or nother person authorized to represent the corporation or adopt decisions on behalf of the corporation can cause the criminal liability of the respective legal person he works for.

Moreover, a wide range of criminal behavior of the aforementioned persons fall under the criminal liability act, thus, this issue will be very important for any company to deal with. By itself, the above puts big pressure on corporations and their control body implementation measures.
